In the opening lines of The Gospel of Thomas the author reveals: "These are the secret sayings that the Living Jesus spoke and which Didymos Judas Thomas wrote down.”
The Disciples said to Jesus, "Tell us how our end will be."
Jesus said, "Have you discovered, then, the beginning, that you look for the end? For where the beginning is, there will the end be. Blessed is he who will take his place in the beginning; he will know the beginning and will not experience death."

According to the Gospel of Thomas, the Living Jesus is the voice that speaks to you right now. Salvation in the Gospel of Thomas comes to those who learn from Jesus’ sayings the truth about life, the cosmos, and themselves. Jesus says, "When you come to know yourselves then you will become known, and you will realize that it’s you who are the sons of the Living Father." Those who don’t know themselves will remain in spiritual poverty.
What does it mean to know oneself? According to the Gospel of Thomas, people originated from a divine realm of permanence and intellect. They will return to that realm only if they know their True Self.
